Sure, it may be cold here in Minnesota for the winter, but below are 5 good reasons to schedule a winter photo session!
Nice light for photography when everyone is awake and happy! This is probably the best thing about being a photographer in the Winter. The nicest possible light for photography generally starts a couple of hours before sunset. For family sessions, depending on the age of your children, this could mean a late finish during the Summer months. During the Winter, you will likely be back home for dinner! This also works when shooting first thing in the morning – shooting at 6am in the Summer is no fun whereas an 8:30am start in the Winter is no problem. Not only does the sun go down earlier in the Winter, but it also takes longer to go down, meaning I have more time to take your photographs in awesome light. More available time As a photographer, Summers are hectic, and it can be impossible to find a premium weekend slot for your shoot. For the same reason it's also hard to reschedule your shoot in the Summer should the weather be less than perfect. During the Winter months, there is generally more flexibility in scheduling! Woolly hats look awesome! Woolly hats and Winter clothes can add a great element to your photos, even if it's just for a few! Different Feel Wintertime pictures can give you a different feel. Yes, the greenery might be gone, and it might feel a little empty all around, but photographers love Winter because this is the time for some unique pictures. Do not get discouraged by a gray day - it offers some great even light and sometimes the sky opens up - rewarding our patience! Locations are quieter Beaches and park locations are busy during the Summer months, but during the Winter, we may just have it to ourselves! Had the pleasure of photographing Heather, Nora, Liam, and Ewan earlier this month. What a beautiful family! I loved getting to know each of the kids and their unique personalities! We had some cold weather for our photoshoot, but luckily we were able to go indoors and warm up!
It is always a great time getting together with a fellow photographer. Recently, I met up Aubrey to take some pictures of her and her camera! It was so fun getting to know her and talking photography with her! Enjoy!
Here are some of my favorites from my photoshoot with the Tompt-Barrick family! I always have a fun time photographing their family and this time they brought along Emily's parents and sister to get in some shots and add to the fun!
